The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has announced plans to develop a strategic framework to help its members navigate the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI).
This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the newly elected members of the MSSN National Executive Council (NEC) to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), as part of their familiarisation tour to key stakeholders and partners.
The rise of AI and its implications for Islamic jurisprudence has been a growing concern, prompting the MSSN leadership to explore ways to integrate AI advancements while maintaining religious and ethical considerations.
Speaking during the visit, the National Amir of MSSN, Mustapha Tajudeen Olumide, said the society’s new leadership is committed to formulating a roadmap for AI engagement.

“Our focus is on equipping members with the knowledge and skills to adapt to the AI era while ensuring financial stability for the society and increasing our relevance within the broader community,” Olumide said.
He also highlighted plans to enhance the organisation’s membership database, underscoring the leadership’s commitment to advancing MSSN’s impact.
Describing the vice chancellor as a key ally, Olumide expressed the desire to benefit from his wealth of experience in university administration.
“Our vision is to build a dynamic and intellectually empowered Muslim students’ community that is spiritually grounded and socially responsible,” he added.
The V-C, Professor Egbewole, congratulated the new MSSN leadership and said their initiatives align with his values and vision for youth empowerment.
“Leadership is not about titles or power, but about serving others and making a meaningful impact. I have no doubt that you will excel,” Egbewole said.
He assured them of his continued support and encouraged MSSN members in the university to remain focused on academic excellence.
