MTN Foundation donates health equipment to Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi hospitals

MTN Foundation has donated medical supplies and equipment worth millions of Naira to three tertiary health institutions in South-eastern Nigeria.

They are Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Owerri, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), in Anambra state and the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA 1), in Ebonyi state.

A statement from MTN in Lagos said the gesture was part of MTN’s Emergency Ward Intervention Project aimed at “alleviating the vast healthcare needs of Nigerians especially for residents in local communities who cannot afford to pay for proper medical services.”

Some of the medical equipment and consumables donated by MTN Foundation include digital patient monitors, stethoscopes, fracture immobilizers, laryngoscopes, and aspiration suction machines, amongst others.

It added that the donations were received by the hospitals’ management teams led by health commissioners from Imo, Anambra and Ebonyi states respectively.

Local residents who attended the handing-over ceremony thanked MTN for the kind gesture as well as for positively transforming the healthcare system in their communities.
