MTN showcases 5G technology, other ICT innovations at TechFest

MTN has showcased a demo of the 5G technology using a smart robot, alongside other technological innovations at the TechFest which ended in Lagos yesterday.

The maiden edition of TechFest, themed: ‘Spark Your Curiosity’ played host to thousands of tech enthusiasts and creative minds from across Nigeria and beyond to explore, debate and proffer technological solutions to societal problems.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Enterprise Business Officer, MTN Nigeria, Lynda Saint-Nwafor said, “MTN is excited to be a part of this event and thrilled about facilitating value driven innovation.

“Technology is key to solving problems and we hope that this event will connect some start-ups with the resources they need for the next level – delivering innovative commercial solutions for our day-to-day needs.”

At the two-day event, MTN showcased some innovative and entertaining technology including a demo of 5G technology by a smart robot, and the award winning Lumos ‘pay-as-you-go’ solar-powered solution, alongside its ‘Call Assist’ business solution – a customer self-service platform.

The telecom giant also had virtual reality demos and a gaming corner, which was a source of attraction to many young students cum future techpreneurs.

It will be recalled that the TechFest was organised to expand business opportunities for technology-focused co-creation and partnerships. It was also aimed at connecting local entrepreneurs with potential investors and venture capitalists.

The event, which started on Tuesday and ended on Wednesday, was a collaboration between Diamond Bank plc and other tech-savvy firms including MTN, Visa, Microsoft, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), Deloitte and Touche, Interswitch and The Beat FM.
