The visit was confirmed by a governorship aspirant from Ogun State, Jelili Amusan.
Mu’azu, our correspondent learnt, arrived at about 4.50pm and left Obasanjo home at about 5.30pm with no details of the meeting from his host and others on his entourage.
Journalists had laid siege on the gate, but were barred from entry. A police escort vehicle stationed outside the premises gave indication that Obasanjo was definitely having a very important guest.
At about 5.20pm, one of the security operatives attached to Obasanjo came out but immediately went back.
Some minutes later a convoy of three vehicles drove out of the house with no clue of who were the occupants.
But, while the waiting newsmen waited, Jelili Amusan, who had arrived midway, confirmed that Mu’azu was actually Obasanjo’s guest.
Amusan, who responded to questions on why Muazu visited Obasanjo, said: “Baba is our leader, our mentor, so we can visit him any time. Any day we are free to come to him. The new chairman has come here, he has just left, all of us are Baba’s sons, we can come here any time.
“Of course apart from coming from the same state with Baba, Baba has ruled this nation for how many decades, so you can’t rule him out in this country.
“Of course, in a democratic dispensation, there must be regrouping, there must be alignment and there must re-alignment and that is it. Let me tell you that the moment somebody comes on board, he has been brought to come and rectify and put in order all the abnormalities in the party. So, you should expect what he is doing. No matter the disagreement, there is need for him to go round and put things together”.
