Mu’azus position came in the wake of President Goodluck Jonathan’s statement during presidential media chat on Wednesday that he did not tell anybody that he would remove Jega.
The PDP campaign organization had before Jonathan’s comment said, through the director of media and publicity, Femi Fani-Kayode, it did not longer have confidence in Jega.
But Mu’azu who briefed journalists at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday advised the commission to put its house in order, saying in the next six weeks, the PDP would continue with discussions that would enhance its chances at the polls.
The PDP boss said the polls shift does not give the ruling party any advantage and cautioned the opposition parties against propaganda.
Mu’azu equally said former President Olusegun Obasanjo and some PDP governors in the North-East and North-West are not working for the opposition, arguing that reports in the media that Obasanjo has endorsed Buhari for president were motivated by the APC to mislead Nigerians and tarnish PDP’s image.
“I do not see Obasanjo voting for Buhari. l have no doubt in my mind that he is not only a bona-fide member of our great party but a leader who is totally against anti-party activities, so he can’t betray our party,” he said.
Similarly, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum said: “No PDP governor is working for the opposition. This is scandalous and mischief by the APC.” Akpabio warned against violence before, during and after the elections.
