Muhammad Babangida elected president of Kaduna Polo Club

Polo enthusiast and son of Nigeria’s former Military Head of State, Alhaji Muhammad Babangida, has been elected president of the Kaduna Polo Club and Head of the new management committee that is poised to take the club to higher heights.

His election at the recently held Annual General Meeting of the Club is aimed at restoring the past glories of Kaduna Polo Club as the premier polo centre in the north.

Before now, Muhammad Babangida, who is the Garkuwan Yamman Katsina and patron of the El-Amin Polo Team, had served as the First Vice president of the Club.

Other committee members elected include Brigadier General Kapeh Kazir as the new First Vice President, Mohammed Baba Askira as the Second Vice President and Atiku Abubakar Saleh (Baraden Maru) as the Tournament Manager.

In his acceptance speech, Babangida commended the outgoing president, Alhaji Suleman Abubakar, describing him as a person of peace and a trustworthy leader.

He also assured members of the club of his unwavering commitment to improving on the legacies of Kaduna Polo Club and to improve on its presence within the polo fraternity.

Babangida also demanded mutual respect for one another from members to make the Polo Club a more hospitable and desirable one for members and the polo family.

At the end of the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the club agreed to hold its annual tournament between October and November just as it agreed to make this year’s tournament a remarkable polo experience for all polo enthusiasts.
