The Muhtar Bello Islamic Centre (MBIC) in Katsina State will support the education of less privileged children. This was contained in speech by Walin Katsina, Muhammasd Aminu Bello at the 10th year anniversary of the centre.

Bello, who said there was need to change the current Almajiri system of education in the northern state, also said the centre intends to offer scholarship to any outstanding student. The idea of establishing the centre, according to him, was conceived and nurtured by the family to further contribute towards the educational development of the state and the neighboring states.

“Our aim is to have a leading Islamic centre that will have a good impact in the community. We will organise Islamic vocational training for children, youth and adults. We also have a special fund for the needy. We intend to offer scholarship to any outstanding student,” he said. He said with the construction of administrative office complex and a 2-storey block of 14 classrooms.

“We are equipping the centre with laboratories, modern learning facilities apparatus and computers to motivate the teachers and instructors towards commitment and dedication,” he added. 

The center according to him will have a research and documentation unit, a digital library and electronic bookshop as well.
