Multiple taxation worries private school owners in Oyo

Chairman of the Association of Private School Owners, Oyo State chapter, Mrs. Madupe Adeleke, who stated this in Ibadan, appealed to the state government to check the trend for the educational development of the state.
Mrs. Adeleke who listed tenement fee, school signboard fee, school bus fee as well as renewal fees, among the multiple taxes, noted that the heavy taxation is killing private schools in the state.
She maintained that private school owners should be considered as partners in progress and therefore should be allowed to contribute their quota in the development of education in the state.
“We are not competing with government in any way; rather we’re complementing government in developing the education sector. All stakeholders in the sector should rise up to the challenge of education development in the face of the noticeable fall in its standard,” she said
Mrs. Adeleke also urged parents to devote more attention to the education of their children and wards by giving them all necessary support that would induce learning.
