A widow and mother of a professional footballer, Samuel Owawo, Mrs Deborah Owawo, on Wednesday, asked an Ikeja high court to ensure justice for her son who was stabbed to death allegedly by his friend.
She informed the court that she was in the market when her son called her from the hospital, saying that he had been stabbed.
The defendant, Adebayo Hammed, is facing a one-count criminal charge of murder contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
The prosecution alleged that Hammed, on January 15, 2016, at about 7am at Oyemekun Bus Stop, Ifako Ijaiye, Ogba, Agege, Lagos murdered Owawo by stabbing him with a broken glass on his chest.
Also testifying before the court, Sodje Richards, a professional footballer who lived with the Samuel, informed the court how very early on the day of the incident the defendant boasted that he would stab Samuel to death.
Justice Adenike Coker adjourned the case to March 8.
