The trial of one Monday Edegbe was on Tuesday, stalled at the Benin High Court when his counsel withdraw from the case.

The Benin branch of the NBA had in April 2019, barred its members from defending suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, and other grievous crimes suspects in the state.

At the hearing of the suit on Tuesday, the lawyer to the accused announced his withdrawal from the case and the presiding judge, Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele, adjourned the case to June 28.

The accused, Monday Edegbe, Chairman of a banned Community Development Association (CDA) in the state, was arraigned on a nine count charge bordering on murder, conspiracy, armed robbery and unlawful damage of property in Uniaro community of the state.

The accused and 10 others (now at large), were alleged to have murdered a 59-year-old farmer, Mrs. Mercy Iserhienrhien Nosakhare at Uniaro community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State by giving her a headbutt on her chest.
