Murtala’s daughter unveils book on Chibok girls
The daughter of the late Nigerian Head of state, Murtala Muhammad, Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode, has written a book in memory of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls.
According to her, the book, titled “The Stolen Daughters of Chibok,” was published by PowerHouse Books Inc. in New York, United States of America (USA), and is now being distributed internationally.
Mrs Muhammed-Oyebode stated that the book was released to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the 2014 abduction of schoolgirls in Borno State.
She said that women and girls deserve safety, education, and a better future, especially in Nigeria.
“As a collection of narratives, the book is a call to action for the restoration of balance in Nigeria’s Chibok community. It features photographs by award-winning photographer Akintunde Akinleye, interviews with the families, and chapters and excerpts by a team of experts, including journalists and psychologists, who have collaborated to create a comprehensive account and thorough examination of this tragedy,” she said.
