The Nigerian music scene is abuzz with excitement as Ice King Ochacho, a young and talented artist, sets his sights on superstardom.
At just 12 years old, Ice King is gaining attention across the country, establishing himself as one of Africa’s most promising young stars. Known for his infectious beats, confident lyrical delivery, and undeniable charisma, the rising talent is already making an impression in the industry.
Ice King, originally from Otukpo in Benue State, began freestyling and rapping at the age of seven. Influenced by a mix of international Afrobeat stars, he quickly crafted a unique sound that blends Afrobeat, hip-hop, rap and dancehall. His increasing popularity has earned him the nickname “Wonder Kid” from fans and media.
His breakthrough came when a freestyle video went viral on social media, amassing thousands of views and attracting attention from both producers and music fans beyond Nigeria. Since then, he has dropped several singles, including “E Choke”—along with a remix featuring Teni “Ochacho Money,” and a few others, which have been warmly received by young audiences across the country.
Though only 12, Ice King ,the son of real estate mogul King Mohamed Adah, widely known as Ochacho, is proving that age is no barrier when it comes to showcasing talent. He has teamed up with one of Nigeria’s top producers to create hit songs that are scheduled for release by his team in the coming months.
Ice King has already shared the stage with some of the country’s biggest acts, including Davido, Monica Ogah, Peruzzi, LadiPoe, Dbanj, Zlatan and 2Baba.
In 2021, he received a co-sign from Davido, who spoke highly of his potential.
“He has the talent to become the new kid on the block. With dedication and hard work, he’s going to take over,” Davido said.
Despite his growing success, Ice King continues to focus on his education alongside his music. His family and management have emphasized that school remains a top priority.
The artist himself has also spoken publicly on the subject.
“Music is my dream, but education is my power,” he stated in a recent interview. “I want to show other kids that you can chase your goals and still stay in school.”
With ambitions to perform on international stages and collaborate with globally renowned artists, Ice King is determined to become one of Africa’s biggest musical exports.
“I want to be the youngest African to go global,” he said. “I want the world to hear what Africa’s kids have to say.”
Industry observers believe that if he continues on his current path, Ice King could soon become a household name well beyond Africa’s borders.
For now, the 12-year-old remains one to watch, a testament to the rising talent and determination of Africa’s next generation.
