Presenting the plaque to Professor Dandaura, the Ameer of Ms-TCS, Adamu Usman Galadima, said the association deemed it fit to honour the HOD because of his fatherly support, encouragement and assistance to students.
Galadima said, “Dandaura is like a father. He treats students of different religious faiths (Muslims and Christians) as one. He welcomes all ideas that can improve the academic performance and social welfare of his students.
Responding, Professor Dandaura said: “I am excited to be recognised and honoured by the Muslim students of Theatre and Cultural Studies.”
The professor elaborated that tribal, cultural and religious interactions are allowed among students of the university to test the leadership qualities in them. “As such, at inception in 2010 when I became head of department, I advised and encouraged the students to have forums where they could interact and share ideas and worship together, so as to further strengthen peace and harmony among them despite their different religious and cultural backgrounds.
“My prayer, therefore, is that the upcoming students should imitate and exhibit more than what the outgoing executives of the Muslim Students of Theatre and Cultural Studies have done,” he said.
