The Muslim League for Accountability (MULAN) has called on security agencies to as a matter of urgency invite the publishers of Sahara Reporters for questioning over what they described as a blasphemous statement on Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The group while condemning the online medium in a statement signed by its National President, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu, said Islam is a peaceful religion that dislikes and condemns violence but said: “Our noble Prophet’s dignity is one that the entire Muslims can stand for even with the last drop of their blood to defend.”

Sahara Reporters had on Monday reported Afenifere’s statement which compared self-acclaimed Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho’s travails to how the Prophet fled from Mecca to Medina. It however took down the report on Tuesday and apologised to readers for the misinterpretation.
However, reacting to the action, MULAN stated that Sunday Igboho was on a mission of disintegrating, causing disunity and disharmony among Nigerians and whose lawless and illegal actions can never be compared even with the actions of any peaceful Nigerian Muslim, not to talk of our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW.
“Sahara Reporters claimed that the statement was contained in an earlier statement released by the Yoruba Socio-Cultural Association, Afenifere. The question that remains unanswered is why it is only Sahara Reporters, as a newspaper or media station, broke the news of the statement made by Afenifere, and no other newspapers.”
