Alkhaleeq Muslim Society of Nigeria has called on leaders and well-meaning Nigerians to support the less privileged in the country.

The society’s chairman, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Huthman, lamented the hardship in the land and called on the leaders to be up and doing in ameliorating the suffering of the masses.

He spoke at a lecture to mark the 20 years anniversary of the society in Lagos.

He said, “The government must ensure even distribution of resources. We should always manage the little we have for the benefit of the generality of the people, not for the one per cent of the people to be living in affluence while the 99 per cent are living in abject poverty.”

The chairman also hailed the achievement of the society, saying, “We have a history of progress and landmark achievements because we started with a few individuals and today we have membership of over 3,000 in seven branches.
