The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Remo Area Council, said it will pay for the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) registration fees of some students within the area.

The group’s Amir in the area, Imam Lukman Oduntan disclosed this at the fifth edition of Idowu Sofola memorial quiz competition held at Ikenne, Ogun State.

“We have been able to assist some students who are financially incapacitated by offering them scholarship, particularly those that won the competition in the past and this year package won’t be different.

“Cash prize won by participants in this year’s event will be converted to their WAEC registration fee, since government has stopped paying such fee in public schools. This we will lift burden off some parents, as well as encourage other students to prepare very well for future edition of the competition,” the Amir said.

Similarly, the Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the competition, Abdulhammed Ariwoola enjoined participants to pursue their education career vigorously and endeavour to give back to the larger society, parts of what they have benefited. The winner of the quiz competition, Zikrullah Abdulafeez of Remo Divisional High School, appreciated the gesture of the sponsor and the MSSN.

The contest was sponsored by Barr. Sina Sofola, SAN.
