The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) has nominated the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, governors Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi, Aminu Twambuwal of Sokoto and Umar Ganduje of Kano states respectively for awards.
In a pre-award press briefing by Alhaji Kamal Dawud, the national president, on Thursday at the Central Mosque, Abuja, the Muslim lawyers said the personalities have contributed immensely to the welfare and well-being of the generality of Nigerians.
Dawud said: “Vice President Osinbajo, though a Christian, has shown more than passing interest in the welfare of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and it is on record that he has visited the North-East on more than three occasions.
“What is more, Prof Osinbajo is completely detribalized and he has also shown that politics is not a money making venture, rather it is an avenue to render selfless service to his country.”
The lawyers also said that Nigeria needs morally upright, patriotic and Allah-fearing people to make the necessary impact in the country.
He said the challenges of nationhood were so important that they should not be left in the hands of greedy politicians.
Dawud said that the distinguished award  presentation ceremony, slated for Thursday at Sheraton Hotel would have in attendance, the Sultan of Sokoto and many other eminent personalities.
