The Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Kano Branch, has condemned the alarming trend of abduction of Muslim minors from Kano State and other parts of northern Nigeria to the southern part of the country, and converting them to the Christian faith.
The state chairman of MULAN, Barrister Sunusi Lawan Fandubu, said at a press conference that the abducted children are sold to families in the east to work as domestic help.

Fandubu suggested amendment of the Penal Code provisions, particularly the sections dealing with the offences of abduction and kidnapping, to attract life imprisonment and death sentences for those engaged in the illicit trade.
He added that MULAN aligns itself with the calls by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) for an end to the disturbing practice.
