Muslims urged to sustain Ramadan lessons

The Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters’ Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid, has enjoined Muslims to sustain the lessons of Ramadan till the end of lives. The cleric gave the advice in Abuja at a special prayer for the peaceful conduct of 2019 general elections organised by the FCT Itikaaf Welfare Management Committee.

He said that Ramadan thought Muslims to imbibe the spirit of patience, tolerance and love, which should be incorporated into the life of every believer.

“Throughout Ramadan, empathy, sympathy and love exist and prevail; now that Ramadan is coming to an end, we should not let it die. Ramadan is going, leaving fasting, mercy and love in our midst. Let us hold it and most importantly, lesson of devotion to the Almighty and humanity,” he added. Sheikh Khalid, however, cautioned politicians against the use of divisive comments during election campaigns as such acts contribute to insecurity. 

In the same vein, South East Muslims Organization of Nigeria (SEMON) advised Islamic faithful to ensure peaceful coexistence with their compatriots and to pray harder for Nigeria and her leaders, as they celebrate the Eidil-Fitr.

The spirit of fasting to feel for the poor and needy as well as show love for humanity and self-restraints should continue after the celebration, the group said in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary Muhammad Ajah and Abdurrahman Nwabueze Urama, respectively.
