Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, on Wednesday, presented N914.86 billion for 2026 budget appropriation to state house of assembly for consideration.
Mutfwang said the appropriation tagged: “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability”, has N341.4-bn as recurrent expenditure, representing 37.07% of the total budget.
He added that the sum of N573.4-bn is being allocated for capital expenditure representing 62.93% of the total budget.
According to Mutfwang, the 2025 initial approved budget of N499.4-bn raised to N609.1-bn following an approved supplementary budget of N109.7-bn, by the legislature as requested by the executive arm.
He said the 2026 total budget witnessed an increase of N306.6-bn from the previous 2025 Appropriation.
“The total budget shows an increase of Three Hundred and Five Billion, Six Hundred and Eighty-Six Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Six Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Nine Naira Seven Kobo (306,686,896,939.07) over the approved 2025 budget,” Mutfwang said.
While making a brief review of the 2025 appropriation, Mutfwang said N137.7-bn was spent on salaries and other recurrent expenses in the first three quarters spanning January to September.
He said the administration had also in its bid to address infrastructural deficits and urban development, spent in the year under review, the sum of N44.044-bn only on capital.
