Popular comedian and show host, Andrew Moka Junior, popularly known as MC JAY, has said that his annual show, Comedy Unplugged, has continued to promote creativity and unity in Northern Nigeria through comedy and entertainment.
MC JAY stated that the show, which began in 2012, was created to provide a premium comedy experience for audiences in Kano and beyond. He explained that over the years, Comedy Unplugged had grown from a small event into one of the most anticipated entertainment shows in Northern Nigeria.
According to him, the event has consistently attracted large audiences and top Nigerian entertainers, including Acapella, Seyi Law, Buchi, Gordons, Funny Bone, Mr Raw, Segun Arinze, Tony Umez, Ali Jita, Sani Danja, Nedu, Akpororo, and Kenny Blaq, among others. He said their performances had helped to raise the profile of the show and position Kano as a hub for entertainment excellence.
MC JAY noted that beyond comedy, Comedy Unplugged had become a platform for youth empowerment and community support. He added that his team had introduced student sponsorships and other social initiatives to give back to society and inspire young creatives across the North.
Speaking on the 13th edition of the show, themed “Clash of the Titans,” he said the 2025 event featured performers such as Koboko Master, Forever the Comedian, Half Kilo, St. Moscow, Funny Bruno, Ebo Bomb, and Danfo Driver. He described the edition as a success, saying it reflected the growth and resilience of Northern entertainers.
MC JAY also commended the sponsors who supported the event, including MINIMIE, Malta Guinness, Di’Marco Signature, Oraimo, UMZA Airlines, TEKA Groups, Orishield Logistics, Wazobia FM, Cool FM, Arewa Radio, Mozida Suites, Meena Events Center, Zoey Cargo, the Kano State Government, and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He expressed appreciation to the partners for their continued trust and contribution, saying their support had helped sustain Comedy Unplugged as a household brand and a symbol of Northern creativity.
