He condemned the “exposure of these youths to foreign cultures at their tender ages when their minds are so fertile for all kinds of things to grow on them’’.

The archbishop expressed regret that someday the responsibility of leadership might fall on them. “I fear for this country in the next 20 to 30 years when these crop of people will assume leadership positions. “If the present crop of leaders trained by us (Missionaries) cannot manage governance effectively, then what will be the fate of Nigeria when those without our cultural values get to those positions?’’ Ndagoso asked.

He therefore, called on leaders and the affluent to refrain from sending their children abroad at tender ages for educational pursuits. “As an Archbishop, I cannot send seminarians to study abroad when they will be coming back to work in the country. “They have to study in the country to understand the cultures of the people they will be serving. “But at a later stage in their training, they could go abroad to get a broader perspective of their studies,’’ Ndagoso said.

The archbishop therefore, appealed to the leaders to upgrade the current structures in the country to international standards for the training of Nigerian children. He said it was regrettable that even health care institutions in the country were not functioning properly. Ndagoso asked: “How can other people know about our president more than we, Nigerians? “It is not safe for our country and our security, let those in leadership positions do something to avert the ugly trend?’’  (NAN)
