Q: Olayinka, what drives your work in the field of industrial systems engineering?
A: In a world increasingly driven by AI, my goal is to revolutionize industrial processes, improve efficiency, and inspire the next wave of technological advancement.

Q: How do you make complex AI concepts practical for industry?
A: At Google LLC, I focus on creating and maintaining detector systems for Generative AI models. This ensures AI tools operate safely by filtering and managing language model prompts (LLM). For AI to make a difference, it has to tackle real problems. My work on predictive maintenance, where AI analyzes data from machines to anticipate failures, prevents costly downtime, extends equipment life, and streamlines operations.
Q: Can you elaborate on your vision for sustainability in industry?
A: I envision AI-powered solutions that help industries minimize waste, conserve energy, and reduce environmental impact without sacrificing productivity. This aligns with Industry 4.0 ideals, where smart factories dynamically adapt to real-time conditions. AI can unlock a future where efficiency and sustainability are seamlessly integrated, serving both economic and environmental goals.
Q: How do you bridge the gap between academia and industry?
A: With two master’s degrees, including one in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, I’ve served as a faculty researcher, mentoring students and exploring cutting-edge AI applications. I’ve also collaborated with the Texas Government to enhance programs like the Texas General Land Oil Spill Program. My research, published in leading journals, covers algorithm design, data analytics, and optimization for industrial systems. I often speak at international conferences to inspire the next generation of engineers.
Q: What do you see for the future of industrial systems?
A: The future is deeply intertwined with AI and the Internet of Things (IoT). By combining these technologies, I envision autonomous systems that monitor, analyze, and optimize processes in real-time, reducing the need for human oversight. We’re only scratching the surface of what’s possible with AI in industrial settings.

A: My work serves as a beacon for innovation and sustainability. With a blend of technical expertise, academic insight, and forward-looking vision, I’m helping to build a smarter, greener, and more sustainable world.
