Police have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of a decomposing human head found in a house at Imota area of Ikorrodu, Lagos state.
The suspect simply identified as Emmanuel, 36, was arrested penultimate Friday. He may be charged to court before next Friday. A police source at the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti Steet, Yaba has said.
It was gathered that the decomposing head which belonged to an unidentified female was discovered in a room in Emmanuel’s house.
The discovery was sequel to a report which was made at Imota Police division by some neighbours as result of offensive odor oozing out of the room.
One of Emmanuel’s neighbours, Fatai Shonubi, said he was stunned to learn that his next door neighbor is accused of cutting off someone’s head to make charm for protection.
He said the building is becoming more dangerous. Others in the building were outraged over the shocking discovery.
Emmanuel is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID),Panti, Yaba, over murder charges.
Another police source said the suspect was arrested for allegedly procuring a human’s head with the intention to make protective charm.
Though, the suspect, said that the human head was allegedly procured by his herbalist friend, Jamiu, but he also admitted being in the know.
Police source said that the suspect allegedly conspired with Jamiu, a native doctor now at large to help organize the human head to make charm.
According to a police source, the Police Division at Imota, Ikorodu had received reports that a foul smell was emanating from a particular compound.
“Policemen attached to the division invaded the place, combed the surrounding and discovered a human head. Jamiu, the native doctor, however, took to his heels when challenged but Emmanuel was subsequently arrested and he confessed that Jamiu had helped him to get the human head for protection against Badoo cult group.” he said.
He added that the police is currently trailing Jamiu while Emmanuel would be charged to court as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the SCID also has in custody a suspect, one Steven Ndukwe who had confessed to killing one Stanley Lawrence by stabbing him on the chest.
According to the police, Ndukwe and Lawrence were drinking at Nurock Hotel bar at Egbeda where an argument ensued and the former stabbed the latter to death during combat.
“Ndukwe will also be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.” the source said.
