“It is an honour to be nominated on a platform that supports African talents. The song ‘I don’t care’ is one that is from a personal place and that is the case with all my songs. We were initially not sure it was time to put it out when we did, but with nominations like this, I am rest assured that we did the right thing,” Aramide Alli said in a chat with Daily Trust.
The Political science graduate, who began her singing career after a stint in a music talent-hunt reality TV show, released her first single titled “Feeling this feeling.” Receiving massive air time nationwide, other singles of the Afro-soul artiste include “I don’t care”, “Iwo Nikan”, “Odun tuntun” and others.
Speaking further, Alli said that the song that got the nominations for her was “I Don’t Care” which was released last year July and video rolled-out in November 2015. “I am really excited, because this nomination is a validation to my hard-work and career growth. I was nominated last year in the category of ‘Most Promising Artiste in Africa’ 2015 [which Kiss Daniel won], but I am very optimistic I can win this year.”
She has also been nominated for the forthcoming Nigerian Entertainment Awards, (NEA), in the ‘Alternative Artist of the year’ category.
