A customary court sitting at Oja-Oba, Ibadan has dissolved the marriage between Abdlelahi Abdlesalam and his wife, Nafisat.
Abdlesalam, a teacher, had described Nafisat as a hypocrite for allegedly telling her parents to demand another bride price from him.
The father of four further told the court he was not aware that the families of his father-in-law were not invited to his wedding to Nafisat until his wife told them to demand for a fresh bride price from him.
“I have been the one taking care of our four children since she left my house. Her family members monitor my movement around. Please grant the custody of the children to me to care of them,” he pleaded.
The defendant, who wouldn’t say anything on Abdelsalam’s allegations, merely contested for the custody of the children.
The president of the court, Chief Odunade Ademola, convinced that the petitioner had, indeed, been taking care of the children in the marriage in the last four years, described him as “a responsible father” and granted him custody of the children while dissolving the marriage.
