N/Assembly will create constitutional roles for traditional rulers — FCT lawmaker

The House of Representatives for Abuja South, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has said that the 10th National Assembly will work towards creating constitutional roles for traditional rulers in the country.

Ajiya, whose constituency comprises Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Kuje area councils of the FCT, stated this during the coronation of the Etsumi Dangara in Kwali Area Council, Umar Salihu, on Saturday.

He said that such roles would allow the traditional rulers to participate on issues bordering on their subjects, especially on security, noting that the traditional rulers were closer to the people at the grassroots.

Ajiya, while congratulating Salihu, urged him to carry his people along irrespective of tribe, ethnic or religious affiliations.

The Chairman of Kwali, Danladi Chiya, called on the people of the chiefdom to live in peace with one another, and also urged the chief to always resolve issues involving farmers and herders amicably.
