Preparations are in full swing as the N-Youth Sports Academy (N-YSA) Basketball Team sets its sights on the second edition of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Democracy Day Basketball Championship.
The highly anticipated tournament is scheduled to tip off from June 13th to 18th, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Package B, Abuja. It will bring together top basketball teams from across the country in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
The N-YSA team, known for its competitive spirit, is primed to make a strong impression not only at the CDS Championship but also at other upcoming events, including the Division One and Two Basketball Leagues later this year.
Riding high on their impressive performance at the North Central Basketball Competition held in Jos, Plateau State, in February 2025, the team is eager to showcase its talent and determination. At that tournament, N-YSA finished as runners-up after a hard-fought battle against the host state, Plateau. The competition featured teams from Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Benue, Kwara, the FCT—represented by N-YSA—and Plateau.

Comprising athletes on full sports scholarships, the N-YSA basketball team has consistently demonstrated resilience and skill. Their continued growth is a testament to the academy’s commitment to grassroots development and talent nurturing.
A recent highlight in the academy’s development efforts was the successful N-YSA Basketball Clinic held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. The clinic, which attracted over 200 young players from the FCT and surrounding states, marked another milestone in the academy’s outreach and talent discovery initiatives.
In further support of its athletes, the academy has also established a dedicated basketball camp, complete with basic amenities, to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of both male and female elite players.
