About N6m worth of textile materials were said to have been carted away at a warehouse belonging to a Chinese company in Kano metropolis.
The warehouse which is locate behind Ado Bayero Mall, adjacent Kano regional office of the Daily Trust, was said to have been invaded in the dead of the night on Monday by yet to be identified persons.
Sources, who spoke to our reporter in confidence, said the thieves scaled through the fence and gain access to the premises and then broke the locks to the warehouse.
“The security employed by the company called us in the morning on Monday and told us that the warehouse has been burgled and when we came we discovered that about 50 bales of textile materials worth N6m have been carted away.
Our reporter gathered that the thieves came in with two vehicles. Another source quoted the security guard as saying “Immediately they broke into the warehouse, I heard them saying where is he (Suleman, the master of security, we will kill him today. On hearing that, I hid behind one machine in the warehouse until they finished their operations in order to save my life.”
When contacted, the police spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident, but said he was yet to obtain detailed information aboutit.
