Former Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Kebbi South Senatorial District scheduled for May 18, 2026, citing alleged interference in the party’s internal process.
In a letter dated May 17, 2026, and addressed to the APC State Chairman in Birnin Kebbi, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, Na’Allah said credible information available to him indicated that the outcome of the primaries had already been predetermined.
“I am writing to painfully convey my withdrawal from the scheduled primaries of the All Progressives Congress for the Kebbi South Senatorial District,” he stated.
The former senator, who represented Kebbi South and served as Deputy Leader of the 8th Senate, said he joined the race at the urging of his constituents, who collectively contributed to purchase his nomination form.
According to him, the directives issued for the conduct of the primaries were inconsistent with “the established civilised standard of the democratic process.”
“My participation in the said primaries will greatly impede my commitment to the development of our nascent democracy,” Na’Allah added.
He recalled spending 14 years building the APC at both the state and federal levels as a founding member of the party.
Na’Allah also appealed to his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as they consider the next line of action.
Copies of the withdrawal letter were also sent to the APC National Chairman in Abuja and the party’s North-West Zonal Vice Chairman in Kaduna.
The former lawmaker thanked the party for the opportunities given to him to serve in various capacities, including as Deputy Leader of the 8th Senate.
