The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has said only 21,159 out of the 40,746 candidates that sat for the 2017 Certificate Examination passed English Language and Mathematics, representing 52.7 per cent.
NABTEB Registrar, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, who disclosed this in Benin while announcing the release of the results of the 2017 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, said 31,369 candidates scored five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics representing 78.19 per cent.
She said a total of 45,088 candidates enrolled for the examinations in 1,786 centres across the country but that only 40,746 candidates wrote the examination and 759 candidates were involved in examination malpractice.
