Augustine Nabueze delivered a commanding performance, leading from start to finish to emerge winner of the seventh edition of the First Bank of Nigeria Limited-sponsored OBJ Golf Tournament.

Playing off a handicap of three, Nabueze carded a gross score of 76, finishing with a net score of 73 to triumph over a competitive field of 134 golfers. The tournament, organized in honor of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, once again showcased top-tier golfing talent while reinforcing its reputation as a premier sporting event.

In a reaffirmation of its commitment to the sport, First Bank of Nigeria Limited pledged its continued sponsorship of the tournament. The bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun Alebiosu, emphasized that supporting the OBJ Golf Tournament aligns with First Bank’s dedication to fostering initiatives that unite Nigerians through sports.

“At First Bank, we appreciate sports as part of our strategy of reaching across the society and that is in line with our theme of being woven into the fabric of the society. And sport, like the OBJ Golf tournament, is a good way of bringing people together,” he said.

Former President Obasanjo, a renowned squash player said First Bank’s consistent sponsorship has broken his resistance to the game saying it’s now time for him to take to the game of golf.

“First Bank’s consistent sponsorship of this tournament in my honour has finally broken my resistance to golf and I have therefore decided to join the league golf players,” Obasanjo said.
