NADDC trains 86 tricycle technicians

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) said it had trained no fewer than 86 motorcycle and tricycle technicians on repairs and maintenance.

The director-general of the NADDC, Jelani Aliyu, said the five-day training was an intervention programme aimed at developing the capacities of repairs, maintenance for auto-mechanics, electricians and other auto-auxiliary service providers in Nigeria. 

Speaking virtually at the closing ceremony of the training, he said the gesture was in response to the call on the rising cases of road traffic crashes involving tricycles, motorcycles and other vehicles across the country, with its attendant loss in human lives and property.

“The NADDC planned and conducted this skills upgrade training for technicians working on tricycles and motorcycles as part of its contribution towards nipping the problem in the bud.

“It is important for the graduating trainees to know that technology in the auto sector advances continually and at fast pace. Today, motorcycles are built with some electronically controlled systems,” Aliyu said.
