The above scenario takes place every day in our rural areas. A lot of these incidents are never reported in the newspapers.  Out of about 100 cases, maybe only three get to the newspapers and television.  

My appeal is that the war against fake drug is not a war for NAFDAC officials alone. It is a war every Nigerian should fight by reporting fake drugs manufacturers to the nearest NAFDAC office.

With the introduction of Truscan device by Dr. Paul Orhii, the versatile DG of NAFDAC, it will be very easy for officials of the organization to go round rural areas and detect fake drugs displayed on counters in chemist shops.

This means more officials should be recruited to do the job in all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. Meanwhile, I doff my hat for the new DG for the wonderful work he has so far performed at NAFDAC. I was elated last week when trailers conveying fake drugs were arrested at the Lagos port. Only God knows the havoc those drugs would have caused in the society.
