The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) yesterday destroyed 13 containers of seized Tramadol and other products worth N3.5bn. The products destroyed at a dump site in Shagamu, Ogun State included Tramadol, Codeine, illegally imported unwholesome sugar and counterfeit medicines.
The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, was joined by the first lady of Ogun State, Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunsho Amosun and officials of the state government as well as other stakeholders including the NDLEA, police and DSS to destroy the items.
The street value of the Tramadol seized was estimated at N1.7bn according to the DG who added that the drug was intercepted mainly at Apapa and Tin Can Ports in Lagos.
Also destroyed were consignments of smuggled Brazilian sugar worth over N100m.
