Speaking in an interview with  Kanem Trust, the coordinator said  “we have so far issued licenses to about 26 bakeries in Maiduguri metropolis and  Jere Local Government, the licensed bakeries are those that have met the minimum requirements put in place by the agency to safeguard public health’’, he said.

According to Malam Adamu, the licensed bakeries included that of Our lady’s special bread, Milk special bread, Gladys special bread, Zuma bread, and Hamdala bread among others.He said the screening included good hygiene practice, non use of potassium bromade and the medical fitness of the personnel involved in the baking processes.

He however said the licenses could be withdrawn if any of the bakeries was found to have failed to maintain the earlier stated conditions.
