NAFDAC seizes over N2.5m worth of drugs, fruits, seasonings, others in Sokoto

Unwholesome regulated products have been seized by the National Agency For Food And Drug Administration and Control ( NAFDAC) in Sokoto State.

They included imported fruit juices, codeine-containing substances, food seasonings among other unwholesome regulated products.

State Coordinator NAFDAC, Hamis Yahaya who disclosed this Wednesday, said the; items were seized after series of sustained surveillance exercises on the affected retail outlets.

He noted that most of these items were imported from China through Niger republic and that they were not registered by NAFDAC.

"The items were confiscated during several raids by the officials of the agency in various supermarkets and markets across the state," he disclosed.

The Coordinator said the exercise would be sustained to rid the state and Nigeria of all fake and unwholesome regulated products.

He advised supermarket operators in the state to go NAFDAC office for global listing of their items.
