Five Kannywood artistes, a producer and a director have made the final list of this year’s African Film Awards in London, United Kingdom.

A statement by the organisers of the awards in London said the artistes include Nafisa Abdullahi, outstanding actress; Hafsat Ahmed Idris, best actress; and Halima Yusuf Ibrahim, best actress in supporting role. 

Others are Ramadan Booth, best actor; Sani Ahmed Yaro, best actor in supporting role; while Hamisu Lamido Iyantama and Kamal S. Alkali made the list as best producer and best director respectively.

Rita Dominic, Belinda Effah, Joseph Benjamin, Rotimi Salami, among others, were on the list of Nollywood (English) category; while Abiola Adebayo, Yomi Fabiyi and Laide Bakare were listed in the Yoruba language category. 

The statement quoted the founder and chairman of the awards, Prince Mike Abiola as saying “The annual awards, organised by African Voice Newspaper UK, is aimed at celebrating excellence in the growing film industry and building global icons”.

This year’s awards scheduled for November 4th in Stratford, South East London, is the 21st edition of the annual event.
