NAHCON procures 35,000 anti-malaria drugs for Nigerian pilgrims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has procured over 35,000 doses of anti-malarial drugs for Nigerian pilgrims on the Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The head of the Nigerian medical team, Dr Ibrahim Kana, said 450 medical personnel were also recruited by the commission to attend to more than  90,000 pilgrims scheduled to perform this year’s pilgrimage.

He said the antimalarials and analgesics have been transported to Makkah and Madina.

He said the commission some of the clinics established in Makkah are Kudei, Sharah Hijrah, Shara Mansoor that housed the central pharmacy store.

Other clinics run by the medical team can be located at Gombe House, Ajyad, he said.    

“In addition, the commission had earlier provided emergency and ambulance numbers to pilgrims via their respective states pilgrim’s boards as follows: +966562208434 and +2348035959280,” he said.

Twenty people from the medical team joined the first batch of pilgrims, and another 45 have since joined them.

The NAHCON official said this is the first time that the national medical team is providing medical services for both states and tour operator pilgrims free of charge.
