The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called on governors in the South South region to constitute Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards.

The Federal Commissioner representing South South zone in NAHCON, Alhaji Sadiq Musa, made the call when he visited Bayelsa and Rivers State with the Zonal Coordinator, Amin Ukoha.

He said the constitution of the board has become necessary to prepare for next year’s hajj exercise.

In Bayelsa, he met with the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Erudjakpo, Muslim stakeholders, the Permanent Secretary Bayelsa State Pilgrims Welfare Board Mrs. koroye and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters Rev. GodsPower Asingwa.

He said the tour was to encourage the region to embrace the newly-introduced Hajj Serving Scheme by NAHCON.

The deputy governor assured that the state would constitute the board soon.

He said the administration holds Muslims in the state in high esteem and never discriminates among religious bodies.
