The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on the Implementation and Oversight of the Naira-for-Crude Oil Policy has issued a seven-day ultimatum to invited ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to submit all requested documents on or before November 27, 2025, or face sanctions.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Boniface Emerengwa, issued the warning on Thursday in Abuja after the invited agencies neither appeared for the investigative hearing nor submitted the required documents.
He announced that the investigative hearing scheduled for November 20, 2025, had been adjourned “due to the gross negligence and lack of seriousness displayed by relevant stakeholders.”
Emerengwa expressed displeasure that, despite ample notice, most stakeholders failed to acknowledge the legislature’s role in ensuring the effective implementation of the policy.
The chairman added that the committee regarded the conduct of the agencies as “a blatant disregard for the legislative process and a disrespect to the Nigerian people whose interests we are mandated to protect.”
He lamented that the delay in document submission had impeded the committee’s ability to conduct proper vetting and due diligence, thereby frustrating the investigative process.
Emerengwa warned that any attempt to frustrate the process would attract firm legislative action. He said the committee, “in the spirit of magnanimity,” had extended the submission deadline to November 27, 2025.
“This extension is a final opportunity for stakeholders to demonstrate their commitment to transparency and cooperation,” he said.
He added that the investigative hearing had been rescheduled for December 2, 2025, stressing that the new date was “final and non-negotiable.”
