Namadi, what the heck does ‘Daram-Dam-Dam’ mean?

During the last few months of ex-governor Makarfi’s tenure, Kaduna’s roads enjoyed intensive (even if selective) rehabilitation or flat-out construction from scratch. But those are mostly roads in the really high-brow ‘G.R.A’ areas like Jabi, Sultan, Isa Kaita, Inuwa Wada roads and others too numerous to mention. Makarfi’s good work stopped at a point, so where should Governor Sambo’s begin? What happened to areas like Ungwan Rimi Low-Cost Housing Estate (my street, in particular, called Bala Lane, is in dire need of attention), Kigo Road New Extension (off Constitution Road in town) and many portions of Tudun Wada, etc.?

I hate to harp on this, because Makarfi isn’t a particularly fantastic example, but the point is the situation is so dire that the senator’s trickles of past ‘work’ seem extensive, in composition to the current administration’s go-slow. Isn’t the best campaign, simply, good work? After all, that IS the whole point of the job, abi?

I’m feeling betrayed by Governor Sambo’s cold shoulder, despite the fact that I and several others decided to vote for him for the simple reason that we felt he’d make a real, tangible difference (not to mention that kind-looking face of his).

Think of all the good it will do to Bala Lane (yes, my street) – and many other roads around Kaduna – if His Excellency spent less on billboards, ‘branding’ garbage trucks with his picture and instead channelling the funds well. I guarantee it’ll make me (and my many friends and neighbours) vote for him come Election Day with no PDP-ing of votes required. Only then will he have the confidence to beat his political chest and declare ‘Daram-Dam-Dam,’ whatever that means.
