The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Jama’a Area Council, has requested that the Kaduna State College of Education (COE), Gidan Waya, be renamed after the late Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Isa Muhammed.
The group, which comprises members from Jama’a, Kaura, Sanga and Jaba LGA’s, also urged both Christian and Muslim students to embrace peace within and outside school settings.
In a statement signed by its President, Shafi’i Jume, the council MSSN observed that students from other parts of the state and country feared studying in Southern Kaduna even with its high number of institutions due to security challenges.
It lamented that several mosques within academic institutions in the area had either been demolished or set on fire during crises, citing the temporary site of the COE, Gidan Waya, and Government Secondary School (GSS), Kagoro, as examples.
