The Senate leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has lauded Zamfara state government for signing into law the Zamfara State University, Talata-Mafara.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday and signed by NANS’ Senate President, Comrade Basheer Gorau, the group said the establishment of the institution is long overdue especially to cater for the admission needs of its teeming youth population.

The statement reads: “Over the years, Zamfara state students have wallow helplessly in search of admission slots in other states-owned institution across the country but a very little fraction of the prospective applicants gets the admission.

“This have translated to increase idle youth waiting endlessly for admission to further their studies. Considering the economic downturn we are facing as a country, we must salute the purposeful leadership of His Excellency for this laudable project despite the dwindling revenues.

“NANS as a formidable stakeholder will ensure to facilitate the take up of this institution by contributing its quota.

“We sincerely felicitate with the people of Zamfara state and it is our expectation that this institution will generate capable manpower that will trigger unprecedented developments across the nooks and crannies of the state and beyond.”

Gorau assured the state governor, Dr. Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, “that history will do justice to him by giving him his due credit for this lasting legacy” he is bequeathing to next generations.
