Speaking at a press conference held at Andal Science Academy, Kabuga, Chairman of NAPPS, Dr. Jibril Muhammad, said the recent withdrawal of previously issued operation permit certificates by Kano State Task Force Committee on Private Schools shocked many proprietors.
“As law abiding citizens whose interest is to revitalise the educational sector, we are appealing to the government to review the three-year life span of private schools certificates to six years,” he pleaded.
Jibril said the three-year life span of the new certificates as proposed by the government failed to consider certain peculiarities of the educational sector.
He said that the longer the period given to schools to get prepared, the better and the shorter, the worse for the schools because it will make the schools to rush their preparations without necessarily achieving the desired results.
The chairman, who also faulted the incessant closure of private schools by the Task Force on the grounds of untimely payments of taxes, suggested that closure of any school should be the last resort.
