The Office of the Southwest Financial Secretary of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has announced plans to host an online leadership programme aimed at strengthening financial responsibility and accountability among student leaders.

The programme, themed “Public Finance, Accountability & Youth Leadership: Building Sustainable Institutions from Campus to Government,” is scheduled to hold on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:25 p.m. via Google Meet.

Organisers said the meeting link would be shared with participants 30 minutes before the commencement of the session.

According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to equip student leaders and young people with practical knowledge on public finance management, institutional accountability and the role of youth in governance and nation-building.

The event will feature discussions by professionals drawn from public service, diplomacy and legal practice, including Ambassador Paul Odujoko, described as a former Lagos State Youth Diplomat and a member of the United Nations Ambassador for Peace, and Ambassador Barrister Habeeb Whyte Ibidapo, a legal practitioner and United Nations award recipient.

Speaking ahead of the programme, the Southwest Financial Secretary of NAPS, Comrade Olayinka Azeez Lekan, said the initiative forms part of efforts to encourage responsible leadership among students.

“This programme is part of our broader commitment to fostering responsible student leadership and strengthening democratic values within student communities and beyond,” he said.

Olayinka noted that the session would provide a platform for discussions on leadership, governance and financial accountability, with the aim of helping student leaders develop practical frameworks for ethical leadership and institutional development.

Student leaders, stakeholders and interested participants have been encouraged to attend the programme and participate in the discussions.
