Nasarawa: Adamu, Wadada pick APC gov’ship forms

Former inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and Senator Aliyu Wadada yesterday bought forms to contest the governorship ticket of the all Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa State.
Wadada was endorsed by the Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule as his preferred candidate but the former IGP has kicked against the decision saying he is ready to test his popularity at the primary.
The Electoral Act provides for the conduct of primaries either through consensus or direct primary. The ex-IGP says he is holding on to the provision that where any aspirant does not agree with the consensus that the party has no option but to conduct elections among the aspirants.
The Director General of the Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Campaign Organisation, Barrister Musa Husseini, confirmed that the former Inspector General of Police has purchased his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest the Nasarawa State governorship election in 2027.
Speaking on Tuesday in Lafia, Husseini said the move “ipso facto is a clear manifestation that he is going to contest this election come what may, by the grace of God.” He disclosed that the forms were obtained at the APC National Secretariat on April 28, 2026.
Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, Governor Abdullahi Sule’s preferred aspirant, has also picked up his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms. The forms were received on Wadada’s behalf by Umar Aliyu Danyaya.
The purchase of forms by both Adamu and Wadada sets the stage for a contest ahead of the APC primary election scheduled for May 21, 2026.
Party guidelines require all aspirants to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to be eligible to participate in either consensus talks or direct primaries.
