Al-Makura said there is no handover in sight for him, prompting him into a decision to set up a committee to make arrangements for the expected transition of power, just as the state government through the outgoing information commissioner, Barrister Mamman Alakayi told Weekly Trust that he does not know of any plans for handover.

 

“I don’t know”, was a reply the information commissioner repeated when Weekly Trust called his phone to get his reaction to the claim by Al-Makura that there is no handover in sight. Asked if there was any plan, he said “I don’t know”, a reply he also made on an inquiry whether the outgoing government is considering making the handover.

But Al-Makura has alleged that the outgoing government has continued to be silent over handover plans, in what has prompted the Office of the Governor-Elect to set up a transition committee named “Transition Task Force”, to commence the arrangement.

A statement issued by the office and signed by its Administrative Secretary, Hamza Elayo Mohammed said: “In view of the limited time available for engagement between the outgoing and incoming administration and considering the out-going administration’s silence for over a week now, the Governor-Elect, Umaru Tanko Almakura, has approved the establishment of a Transition Task Force mandated to examine the current structure of Government, study the financial position of the state and recommend an appropriate structure and development blueprint for the state.”
