The members, all of them of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sat for less than 20 minutes, and passed the motion which was moved by House Majority Leader, Godiya Akwashiki and seconded by Mohammed Baba Ibaku.
Daily Trust gathered that the members, who were escorted back to the state by trucks loaded with armed policemen and soldiers, headed straight to the Assembly complex.
It was further gathered that the members arrived the state capital at about 5.50am and held an executive session in the office of the speaker, before the plenary which commenced by 10am.
 A source said the PDP members did not notify their APC colleagues of the meeting, but that when they got wind of it, they forced themselves into the Assembly complex before the sitting commenced. The source however added that the four APC members were denied access to the executive session.
 It was further gathered that three of the opposition members boycotted the plenary but one of them, Ibrahim Bala, attended the sitting and voted against their action.
While 20 members were filing out of the speaker’s office with the Sergeant At Arms leading  with the mace,  an opposition member, TankoTunga, attempted to snatch the mace while  accusing his colleague of  insensitivity to the plight of the people. He was however stopped by a PDP member, Baba Ibaku, who wrestled the mace from him.
The House, on July 14, reconvened from an ongoing recess and passed a resolution to impeach the governor. The allegations against the governor by the members include; breaching various provisions of the constitution, misappropriation of funds, gross misconduct and abuse of office processes.
At the sitting presided over by the speaker, Musa Ahmed Mohammed, yesterday, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Ego Mai-Keffi, was directed to write and communicate the Chief Justice of the decision.
After the sitting, the 20 members filed out into a waiting bus and left the town.  Tanko Tunga, who had earlier attempted to snatch the mace and stop the sitting, told newsmen that he was disappointed by the action of his colleagues, alleging that the impeachment plot was not theirs, “but wrapped and handed to them to execute”.
“Oh my God! this will not happen in our state. My colleagues are armed robbers, they want to ruin this state and stop the good things the peoples’ governor has been doing”, he said.
Armed policemen took over all strategic locations along Shendam Road, and stopped vehicular traffic and any form of movement around the complex during the proceedings.
State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Umaru Ismaila, confirmed that armed policemen were deployed to the complex.
“Some people came there trying to foment trouble, so our men dispersed them so that there will not be any breakdown of law and order,” he said.
Reacting to the development, Abdluhamid Kwarra, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Umaru Al-Makura, said the lawmakers are unpatriotic.
“Why are they holding a secret session if it is for the people,” he queried, adding that the members were yet to serve the governor with the impeachment notice.
