The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Monday, eulogised the virtues of late Alhaji Hassan Ahmed 11, the Emir of Nasarawa, who died on Nov. 8.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to Speaker of the Assembly, Jibrin Gwamna, in Lafia.

According to the statement, the Speaker, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, described the death of the Emir as a huge loss to the people of the state.

“The late Emir of Nasarawa was a peacemaker and promoter of peace and a bridge builder. He also contributed a lot to the development of not only Nasarawa Emirate Council but of the state.

“He was very humble, honest, and hardworking and had also contributed a lot to the development of not only Nasarawa Emirate Council, but to the development of the state and the country at large.

“The news of his death was heartbreaking and painful but God gives life and takes at will,” the statement said.

Abdullahi also described the death of Ahmed II, as unfortunate, very shocking and a great loss considering his positive contributions to the development of the state and Nigeria.

He urged the deceased’s family and  Nasarawa traditional council, not to be depressed but be courageous, have faith in God and see his death as an act of God.

The Speaker prayed God to grant the entire family and Emirate council, the fortitude to bear the loss.

The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the Emir, who was the state’s first Class traditional ruler, died on Nov. 8, after a brief illness at a private hospital in Abuja.

He has since been buried in Nasarawa according to Islamic rites. (NAN)
